Reviews of Denali Sound Bomb Mini 113dB Horn

Great.!! David Caldwell on Sep 20, 2024

Used to have the bigger/louder sound bomb, but stopped working (probably due to water ingress). Opted for the mini sound bomb this time due to the smaller nature and not as loud, but still loud enough.!! It’s a much better option.!!

It's much louder than the horrible original horn, but doesn't fit where the original one goes, easy enough to retro fit elsewhere though

Second time I have bought this horn replacement. Plug and play on most motorcycles and the best cure for those drivers that just won’t see motorcyclists on the road. Much louder than the pathetic attempt of a horn on my daily runaround.

I have previously bought the larger / separate compressor sound bomb for a K1300s - as more space to accommodate and hide beneath the fairing. However - the sound bomb mini is ideal for the R9T and a perfect straight replacement. Loud enough to get you noticed - small enough to be a hassle free fit.

Pleased with the improved performance but the fixing bracket could have been longer as with the one supplied the horn was in contact with the body work

A little fiddly to fit due to access and big hands, but a significant improvement on the the weedy original horn.

This was Just what I was looking for to enhance the mediocre horn that was fitted as standard. Simple straight swop for the original, even mounted to the same bracket. Really pleased with this item, would recommend to anyone looking to have a decent sound when using their horn.

Easy to fit. Had to fine tune with screw as didn't work straight from box. Much louder. I recommend facing the horn downwards to avoid water ingress.

Good loud horn just what you need when there’s a need to use it. Bit fiddly to fit on the GS & need to use the extension plates so the horn clears the plastics under the beak. Good job I ordered the wiring harness to go with it as the existing loom won’t fit. All sorted in half an hour. Would recommend.

Need this loom as standard wiring won’t fit A bit expensive for what it is. I have a crimping tool so fitting the loose supplied spade terminals was easy

Well, it is true that the standard horn on a 1250RS is about the most difficult component to reach outside of the engine and gearbox! As a result I decided to leave it in situ. Despite what forum 'experts' and doomsayers would have you believe, it IS possible to fit the Denali Soundbomb Mini without dismantling the bike. The most difficult (read: fiddly) part is disconnecting the original horn wiring: ET's fingers would have been handy. I found there was just enough room behind the radiator on the nearside to mount the unit using the supplied bracket which I gave a dog leg with two vice bends. Also had to use a spacer (not supplied) to allow the bracket to mount solidly and the horn unit to clear all surrounding hardware. There's a handy unused mounting hole on the lowest/foremost part of the frame. So, a neat (I think) install has been achieved without too many teeth being gnashed. I don't think the Soundbomb Mini is any louder than the standard item, but it's a much beefier tone - as opposed to sounding like the Road Runner with a loud hailer. All in all a decent value item that improves things. T

Whilst on my first (unwise but necessary) journey aboard my 1250 GS, in the dark and miserable weather, on a 400 mile sprint back home, I "hit" the horn several times unintentionally (why no back lit instruments BMW? Well I suppose the GS must have at least one fault). Now this was not just embarrassing because of my new to the GS clumsiness, but also because the mighty Shift-Cam mile cruncher has a horn that would be more suited to a kiddy trike! That high pitched, feeble "Parp" would have to go (mmmm, a second fault). Denali to the rescue! Great product, easy to fit (with their sold separately, Can-Bus friendly harness) and a decent wake-up call for dozy car drivers! All round excellence, well done Nippy Ns!

I am pleased to recommend the Sound Bomb Mini.It is a huge safety improvement over the factory fitted "squeeker" apology for a horn. A straightforward replacement with no wiring except for the simple wiring converter required to fit the original connector. Plenty loud enough to be heard by all other road users.

Fairly easy swap with oe horn. Used the bracket that comes with the horn ( just put a bend in it to keep clear of forks). Denali adapter clips straight on. Definite improvement on standard horn, cars take notice now.

Fitted the sound bomb mini to my (2012) GS. It is on par with the horn used on most cars. It is significantly bigger than the OEM horn and you will need to get creative to get it to fit without fouling the front fork/suspension travel.

One star taken away as it dose not fit into the same place as the original horn as the mini is bigger than the gap . Had to use the bracket supplied, but all this may be down to the bike being a new 1250 GS and slightly different layout? My first GS so cant compare. But as said easy to fit once problem worked out.

I have been looking for a small compact sound horn for a while and it took me some research before I found the Sound Bomb Mini. Had someone help install it in my R9T, had to remove the fuel tank in order for it to be reached / installed. When it was, the sound is great and packs a short punch. Now the horn matches the look and sound of my bike. No hesitation - DENALI is the one to turn to.

Easy to fit - just checked on a you tube video I found first and saw you do not need to remove a fairing. You will need your own 8mm nut and bolt (not supplied) to fit the top end of the bracket as the original horn has a stud bolt. Much better sound than the original.

Good tone but don't forget the BMW adapter lead to the original loom! Bob on May 30, 2018

Rating: 4

The original Bosch horn was like a high pitch scooter horn, embarrassing to say the least! I needed something to suit the bike. I considered musical air horns but "Colonel Bogey" is not really me, and space is also a consideration. Denali also make air horns where the pump can be fitted remotely from the horn its self but where do I mount that? I took a chance with the Denali electric this required no modification to the fuse or wiring. The tone is some where between a truck and a car - imagine a luxury coach horn, BUT only with a single tone. (I would have liked a twin tone sound) but space is a premium on the bike so this will do and 100% better tone. I didn't order the adapter lead only to find the original loom will not connect to the new horn - more postage and delay!!

Relatively easy to fit to RS, remove bolts and bend back centre fairing where DRL strip is held, remove stock horn, replace with this one (bend mounting arm down slightly to clear back of DRL) and wire up using adapter available on this site. The improvement in volume and tone of the horn is worthwhile. The wiring kit fitted the horn into the wiring harness. The mounting bracket had to be bent to avoid the newly fitted horn coming into contact with the fork legs on full lock.

Much louder than the factory standard horn and it sounds more like it might be coming from a large car rather than a ‘tinny’ little noise from a moped / scooter. It will wind up some drivers I’ve found. Great!
