Reviews of AirMan Electric Air Pump

Airman electric pump Mr Hart on Oct 17, 2024

Biggest load of rubbish,it blue a fuse on first time of using and my bike is relatively new bike. The last thing you need when you are miles from anywhere NN SAYS As on the instructions. PLEASE NOTE: If your bike has a can-bus electrical system (all BMWs from 2005 on) the inherent design of your bike’s accessory outlet will not power this pump. This is the same for any similar pump as the power output 'allowed' by BMW on this circuit is very low. The cure for this is to install a second accessory outlet that’s wired directly to your battery. Search for BAS-SD14 or BAS-ZA01

Tour Airman electric pump and Din socket kit. Gary Stone on Oct 02, 2024

I've purchased the Airman pump and recommended Din socket kit, to connect straight to the battery. I've fitted the Din socket kit today and noticed that the Airman pump is 10 Amps, but the supplied fuse in the kit is only 7.5 Amps, so have replaced it with a 10 Amp, and packed a spare. Last thing I'd want when I needed to inflate a tyre after a puncture is to find the fuse blew. Surprised Nippy Norman's don't supply the correct fuse. NN SAYS - as stated on the item description PLEASE NOTE: "If your bike has a can-bus electrical system (all BMWs from 2005 on) the inherent design of your bike’s accessory outlet will not power this pump. This is the same for any similar pump as the power output 'allowed' by BMW on this circuit is very low. Power It Directly From The Battery Forbes on May 11, 2023

Rating: 5

Important to note that this (or any other) pump should not be powered from the OEM socket on your motorcycle as there is insufficient power available to power it. The answer is to install a secondary power accessories socket directly to the bikes battery to power this pump. And to show Nippy Normans unfaultering quest to continue as the world leader in aftermarket BMW motorcycle accessories they have of course designed and built exactly what you'll need! (Search for BAS-SD14 or BAS-ZA01) So whilst most men dont even know what small print is, dont be 'let down' (see what I did there?) by not reading this review and powering your pump from the OEM socket.

Not a bad unit when it works. I have found the bearing on the main cog drive is garbage. When this bearing goes out it blows fuses. Replaced it with a Timken bearing and now it works great.

A neat and compact pump, well designed for ease of carrying - in a tank bag, top box, bum bag, whatever. I detached the supply plug and fitted a female Keis type connector so I can source power direct from the bike battery using the same wiring as my heated jacket. Easy-peasy.

Well, got to use this in anger recently - on someone else's bike. You know, the fella who embarks on an epic tour without a single tool or any contingency plan! As I've fitted a separate fused DIN socket wired directly to the battery the Airman pump worked perfectly. It pumped his 180 section plugged rear tyre up from flat to around 40psi in about 10 mins. I like its compactness too. Surprisingly quiet in operation - I know some make an ungodly row. Good piece of kit

The Airman Tour is quite compact and will not take too much space when packed. It comes with a handy pouch with enough space to stuff in a few further items, such as a tyre plug kit. Note the comments on the CAN-BUS. I had to install an additional socket. (also from Nippys)

Bought one of these to replace a Bikers Dream footpump that I've had for years. Didn't try it before I went to Spain and when I needed it it blew the fuse on the bike! So just ordered a replacement Bikers Dream Pump! NIPPY NORMANS SAY: All electric pumps will blow the fuse on the bike as the Can Bus system does not ‘allow’ sufficient current draw for almost any accessories. Therefore on the product details it states: PLEASE NOTE: If your bike has a can-bus electrical system (all BMWs from 2005 on) the inherent design of your bike’s accessory outlet will not power this pump. This is the same for any similar pump as the power output 'allowed' by BMW on this circuit is very low. A nice bit of kit which fits nicely into the touratech tool box. Not used in anger yet but after a frustrating episode with the CO2 cartridges I decided never again and to go with a proper air pump. Hope I never have to use but it seems well built and works a treat from the auxiliary port I had fitted as an extra on the bike.

Compact, works well. John Ramwell on Nov 21, 2017

Very compact, takes up very little space in the topbox. I haven't used it in anger but tested it in the extra socket I fitted to my bike. Ensure that your socket has a high enough rated fuse as the current draw is 10 amps.

Seems to be the right thing for me after having tried some. Anybody knows whether the air hose fits to the tyre valve of a 1200 GS Rally with spoke tire rims? There is very little space between the spokes on the front tire rim. One of the compressors i tried did’nt fit.

The airman pump works well. Julio Proenca on Feb 28, 2017

The AirMan pump comes readily to hand and it is a simple matter to pull the power cord and connector out of the bottom housing and then release the air hose from its dummy connector on the top of the housing. Quick manipulation of the power connector turns it into a BMW-style plug. The little compressor has been on more than a few road trips and while I have not had to use it yet (touch wood). Its built-in air gauge remains in one piece and actually works, really well. All three air gauges, including the one on the AirMan, provided readings within 1.0 to 1.5 PSI of each other. I believe the AirMan gauge can be trusted to provide a reliable reading.

An excellent mini compressor which appears to be very good build quality. The built in dial is not massively accurate, but I just allow 0.1 of a bar extra to what is required. Very good piece of kit and far better than the cheaper models which are available.
