The Wunderlich fender extension offers four-fold protection: It protects the driver against spray water kicked up by the front wheel and its unpleasant consequences. It effectively protects the engine housing and the manifolds from stone chips. And it reduces the dirt on the engine housing and the manifolds.

In addition, the original mudguard does not have to be drilled for assembly.
